Pete & Mikayla

I met with Pete & Mikayla at Hemlock Crossings Nature Preserve on a gorgeous fall afternoon. This is one of those places that I just do not utilize enough and this session reminded me I really need to come back here more!

This session was so much fun for me because they brought so much personality to their session. Pete & Mikayla have been together (minus a little bit of time in the 8th grade) since they were in 7th grade! They both went to middle school together and despite taking a little break their 8th grade year and despite going to different High Schools, they still ended up back together. Every couples love story is different. Sometimes we meet the love of our lives when we are 30 and sometimes we meet them when we are 14. Each love story is special and I love document what makes couples special.

One fun story that they told me was about their first Christmas together. They were young so Mikayla’s siblings brought them to the mall. They split up and one went shopping on one side of the mall and the other went shopping at the other side. It turns out, they both ended up getting each other a pair of Vans shoes! Since this is a special part of their story, we made sure to capture some photos of them wearing their vans (although they aren’t the same pair they bought that first Christmas ;) )

Another thing that they enjoy doing together is canoeing. Pete took a lot of time to redo this old wood canoe and its maiden voyage was their engagement session! I can’t think of a more special time to have it be put in the water for the first time since being redone. I love that we were able to incorporate these special things for their session. These are the things that make them unique and its so fun to be able to highlight that.

They are such a fun loving couple and I am so excited to be able to share favorites with you! Enjoy!
