Neal & Steph :: Married

Neal & Steph were married on a chilly, breezy, and a little bit rainy fall day on the gorgeous campus of Aquinas College. Despite the weather being less than perfect,  I couldn’t help but remember back in December when we were on campus for their engagement session how brutally cold it was that day. The temperatures then were below 0, so although the weather wasn’t perfect, I was thankful at least for temperatures that were above freezing! Steph and I go way way back. We played little league softball together back in the day and we spent quite a bit of time together through out high school as well so it was truly an honor to be able to be there to document this huge moment in her life! Neal is so absolutely perfect for her and I loved being able to celebrate this day with them.

Yes, we had to dodge some rain drops during their wedding day but it gave us an excuse to spend a little time in the campus coffee shop which is where Neal & Steph spent a lot of time together along with their friends during their time at Aquinas. So for that, I am thankful for the rain and forcing us to capture a moment that otherwise may not have happened. Part of being a wedding photographer is making the most of whatever weather situation we are given. I do my best to be able to capture photos outdoors because it is my favorite place to be when it comes to creating portraits, however, my favorite part of a wedding day is capturing it how it happens. Sometimes the lighting situations aren’t perfect, sometimes it rains more than I would like, sometimes the timeline doesn’t go perfectly but I love being able to document the day true to how it happened.

I loved that we spent a little time in the coffee shop during their wedding day and I also loved that we stopped at Yesterdog before heading in to the reception! This is another spot they spent a lot of time at during their time at Aquinas and I loved that we included this during their day. Yesterdog is the absolute best and it was a blast hanging out here with them!
