Marc & Emily were married at CityFlat’s Ballroom downtown Grand Rapids, MI on the first day of December! It was a rainy and dreary day but that didn’t stop us from having the best day. The CityFlats Ballroom is such a gorgeous venue and it was so much fun that all of the christmas lights were on downtown. We even got lucky and they had the Christmas tree lighting downtown that night so there was a road blocked off and we were able to utilize that area better for photos. It was very chilly and windy but the bridal party were such troopers!
Working with Marc & Emily through out the whole process of their wedding was the absolute best. After I had met with them for their engagement session it turned out that we knew a lot of the same people and that Marc and my husband Kris even were in the same softball league! So shortly after their engagement session I had the chance to see Marc again when he played against my husbands team and then also I got to see them when I photographed a gender reveal party. Being able to build relationships with the couples that I work with is so very important to me and I love that in 2018 I had the chance to work with so many amazing couples. Couples that I can easily just hang out with and that the second we get together it feels like we have been friends for years. Thats how it felt when working with Marc & Emily.
One really memorable moment during their day was when they talked about Marc’s Mom, who had passed away years before. He decided to do a first dance still, in honor of his Mom, and he danced with his Aunt and his Moms best friends. I am pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. It is such a joy to photograph these moments that matter so much and are so special. The bridal party was a ton of fun, the ceremony was beautiful, Marc & Emily are the best to work with, there were so many sentimental moments, and the team of vendors that helped make this day perfect were incredible to work with as well. I love this wedding and I am so excited to share this post with you!
