#IAmScouting :: Boy Scouts of America

It’s that magical time of year again where the temperatures drop, the leaves change color, pumpkins are everywhere, and Art Prize takes over Grand Rapids. Back at the end of July/early August plans began to form of creating a project similar to the Humans of New York project. My friend Ashley works for the Boy Scouts of America and she put together this idea to put a face to Boy Scouts and share their stories. To show the diversity that the Boy Scouts have. At each interview I would spend a few minutes capturing images of the person being interviewed and then Ashley would wrap it up by interviewing them. I really enjoyed being along for the ride and having the opportunity to meet such amazing people. Each one had such a wonderful story to tell and it was great to hear different insights. Once all of the interviews and photos were taken care of, Ashley enlisted the help of her sister Heather Bravard, who is a graphic designer, in creating a great way to display this fabulous project.

This project will be displayed at the blood drive hosted by the American Red Cross booth at the Devos Place on Oct 3 from 10 am – 4 PM and at the Van Andel Arena on Oct 9 from 10 AM – 4 PM. I encourage you to stop by and give blood and check this project out in person! What will be displayed at Art Prize and what is shown in this blog is only a piece of the whole project though. To see more of this project, please head to the website www.iamscouting.org.

I am so excited and honored to be a play a role in such a fun project. There was a lot of time and hard work put into getting this whole project put together and I am really excited to share with you the finished project.
