Dave & Sharon :: Grand Rapids Engagement

Dave & Sharon met me a couple weekends ago for their grand rapids engagement session starting at Roots Brew Shop! When I met up with them earlier this year we had discussed various activities that they enjoyed doing together and the idea for their engagement shoot was born. It’s important to me to try to build a friendship with the people I work with and do more with tailoring sessions to fit them personally. This was probably the first time that I really took a lot of things special to a couple and was able to work them in to their whole session and I am so excited with how it came out!

Before I share the images with you I would love to share just a little bit more about Dave & Sharon. They met while on a mission trip to Mexico a few years ago and really got to know each other better while doing dishes together one night. Who knew that doing dishes could be so romantic?! When they returned from their mission trip they went on a date and the rest is history! One of their first dates was kayaking together and it is something they still love to do together to this day so I knew that I wanted to incorporate that into their session some how. Another one of their first dates was star gazing out in one of the fields of the farm that Dave works for. So it was very fitting for us to end their session at that very field! One other thing they enjoy doing together is go to Roots Brew Shop and read. When we talked about this during their initial client meeting I instantly had visions of sitting in this coffee shop together just hanging out, trying to be as unposed as possible.

Its these moments together that are so special. To be able to document things that you do together now to look back at for years to come is so amazing to me. I love to be able to freeze time to be remembered 5, 10, or even 50 years from now. Life goes by so fast so its important to create these moments together to last a lifetime.

Hello World ❤️ Meet Gideon Jay Vanderwall
He was born yesterday morning at 8:01 AM via C Section, and shortly after he was born was taken to the NICU because of his oxygen levels. Today he is doing much better, he’s off the cpap machine and we just got word that he’s off his IV fluids as well. If his blood sugars stay stable, he will join us in our room until we all get discharged from the hospital.
I’m doing well also ❤️ Just doing my best to rest & heal when I can. This also means that I am officially on maternity leave! Not 100% sure how long I’ll be off, but I’ll be checking emails periodically for sure 🥰

His big sister Ella has not met him yet, but I can’t wait until she does ❤️ ...

The year 2023 was full of the very best weddings ❤️
Elisabeth Marie photography had 22 weddings this year (20 of them photographed by me, and 2 of them were photographed by associates 🥰)
And not pictured in this reel but I also was an associate photographer for 2 other weddings AND I second shot 2 different weddings with @hayleehill_photo this year.
So overall I was involved with 26 weddings in 2023.

For each couple that chose me to photograph your wedding (and fellow photogs that trusted me to help you), from the bottom of my heart, thank you!!! ❤️

I know Instagram is going to be so full of 2023 recap videos today, but I hope you enjoy this one (and all the others shared). What a joy it is so looking forward to back at all the incredible memories made. Doing recap videos feels incredibly fulfilling overwhelming, and I put a lot of pressure on myself to do these things, but it really is so fulfilling to look back at the year and all it had to offer. To think back and remember each wedding day & the amazing clients I had the honor of working with.

I’m hoping to do a full 2023 year recap with allllll the families, seniors, newborns etc but that’s going to take a bit more time.

Thank you everyone for your continued support. It means the absolute world! 2023 was such a great year for the business and I am looking forward to what 2024 has to offer. Let’s celebrate 🎉❤️ ...
